Design the Systems That Power Industrial Innovation
Global Finishing Solutions (GFS) is seeking a proactive, positive, and highly skilled Senior Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to lead the design and specification of mechanical piping systems for advanced industrial HVAC and energy applications.
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our custom-engineered finishing systems—developing safe, efficient, and reliable fluid and gas solutions that drive performance across industries from aerospace to automotive. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, interface with contractors, and mentor future engineering talent.
What You’ll Do
- Design and specify piping systems for refrigerant, boiler, chiller, steam, and condensate applications.
- Develop insulation strategies for steam, chilled water, and freeze protection systems.
- Layout and route gas piping (natural gas/LP) and MAU drain systems.
- Implement heat tracing designs (electric and steam).
- Design pump skids and hydronic systems with coil manifolds.
- Specify control valves (liquid, gas, air) and ductwork actuators.
- Support steam heat systems and indirect-fired heater projects.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure mechanical integration and quality execution.
- Mentor engineers and build team capabilities.
- Partner with contractors to achieve high-quality installation and performance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- 10 years of piping systems design experience.
- Strong background in HVAC piping, heat transfer systems, and mechanical layouts.
- In-depth knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and mechanical code standards.
- Proven success in process air applications, including startup validation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to produce mechanical drawings and lead external presentations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
