Job Title: Process Engineer - Extrusion
Location: Grand Prairie, TX
Type of Role: Direct Hire
Pay Range: up to $90,000/yr
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a results-driven Process Engineer – Extrusion to support automotive manufacturing operations in Grand Prairie, TX. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes in compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards. The Process Engineer will lead new product launches, support capital equipment implementation, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure automotive OEM and Tier 1 customer requirements are met in a fast-paced production environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, PFMEA, and Process Flow development
• Support equipment installation and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and manage production ramp-up activities
• Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) objectives
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives
• Conduct structured problem-solving (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC) for internal and customer quality issues
• Develop and maintain Standard Work, Work Instructions, Control Plans, and process documentation
• Implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) and ergonomic improvements
• Analyze process capability (Cp, Cpk) and implement corrective actions
• Manage CAPEX projects including justification, vendor coordination, installation, and validation
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards and regulatory requirements
• Support internal and external audits (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and customers
• Provide technical training and mentorship to production personnel
• Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or process engineering
• Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans)
• Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced automotive production environment
• Ability to travel and work overtime as required
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with extrusion processes
• Working knowledge of PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (MS Project a plus)
• Experience managing CAPEX projects and equipment validation
• ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliance exposure
