RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform hand Laser welding on aluminum, mild steel, and stainless-steel materials utilizing precise heat control and filler metal to create strong and aesthetically appealing welds.
- Clean and prepare aluminum and mild steel surfaces for welding, removing any contaminants or impurities that could affect the quality of the weld.
- Examine and verify the integrity of aluminum, mild steel, or stainless-steel materials to ensure they meet the required quality standards before welding.
- Set up and adjust welding equipment, including selecting the appropriate TIG welding torch, gas flow, and amperage, based on the thickness and type of materials being welded.
- Inspect finished welds for defects and discontinuities, using visual inspection and non-destructive testing methods as required to ensure the product being manufactured is meeting required specifications.
- Work with a variety of welding joint configurations, such as butt joints, lap joints, and fillet welds, depending on the project's specifications.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while performing Light Laser welding, ensuring compliance with company and industry safety regulations.
- Safely handle and move aluminum materials and welded components during the welding process.
- Monitor the manufacturing process to maintain a steady workflow and promptly address any deviations or inefficiencies. This also includes daily production reports, tally sheets, scrap reports, etc. Must be able to understand the job orders and interact with Epicor.
- Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel, to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
- Read, comprehend, and execute processes and procedures according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) which are necessary to properly operate the equipment and manufacture the product.
- Maintain and operate hand tools necessary to set-up, take apart, troubleshoot, and operate equipment. Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting components to ensure proper functioning and extend equipment lifespan.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
- Basic understanding of measuring tools and weld quality inspection.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read, interpret, and train welders on welding symbols, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with different grades and types of aluminum and their corresponding welding requirements.
- High understanding of shop safety procedures and PPE usage.
- Able to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Be able to perform basic functions on a computer.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
- Weld small and large components such as mild steel tubing, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.
