Our client is seeking a Chemist to manage Lab instruments for Safety, Quality, and Operations and solve problems to support operating units and develop methods for non-routine testing. Hands-on work and data analysis is expected. Networking with immediate site key interfaces is expected to develop.

Responsibilities & Essential Duties

• Perform method development
• Validate alternative tests
• Consult lab personnel to update equipment/methodologies/technologies
• Assist with improvement of lab testing variability
• Work with Technical and Process Departments on operations problems
• OIMS and Safety Program Compliance
• Data integrity (DIAF) Compliance and understanding of QP&G.
• Develop knowledge of quality assurance based established testing
• Solve manufacturing/production problems by using specialized analytical techniques
• Responsible for the development and improvement of test methods
• Establish credibility in solving analytical problems using a broad range of techniques
• Responsible for selection, purchase, validation, removal, and maintenance requirements of test equipment to meet requests/requirements/needs.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, & Skills)

• Master’s or above in Chemistry required
• Background with x-ray instruments
• Experience reviewing current scientific methods
• Assessing to ensure adherence to standards, doing simulations, reviewing for revisions, devising tests for simulations, validating data accuracy
• Behavioral Skills: adaptability, analytical capability, collaboration, effective communication, mentorship, innovative, applied learning, shows initiative
• Previous experience in a closely related position
• Demonstrates sound business judgement, decision making skills and customer focus
• Familiarity with different methods, making recommendations to customers
• Soft skills - analytical, effective communication with non-scientists, conciseness, telling stories with data
• Seeking someone with background in method development vs. equipment preferred
