Overview
Join us as an Earth Repair Volunteer Coordinator and become a vital catalyst for environmental restoration and community engagement! This position is a contract position for the upcoming festive Global Earth Repair Convergence, a gathering of over 200 earth restoration and permaculture leaders around the world. Successful completion of this contract enables you to be considered for a longer 3-year contract with the foundation. In this dynamic role, you will lead efforts to recruit and manage dedicated volunteers passionate about repairing and preserving our planet while building a fun and caring community of Earth Repair Stewards and Volunteers. Your energetic leadership will inspire teams to participate in impactful projects that restore ecosystems, promote sustainability, and foster environmental awareness. Required Times/Hours:
- Be on-site at Fort Worden in Port Townsend on May 7-11th 2026 for the Global Earth Repair Convergence to steward volunteers and work-traders for the festival-gathering.
- Attend Monday morning all staff meetings from 10am-11am
- Host a 1 hour 'Open Hours' session per week on zoom for local and international volunteers and work traders to meet and ask questions, pitch ideas, and build a community culture of earth care volunteers ( currently scheduled on Saturdays at 9am, but flexible to change)
Duties
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment campaigns through social media management, campus outreach, and public speaking engagements to attract diverse participants.
- Develop and deliver engaging volunteer meetings on environmental restoration techniques and project goals to empower volunteers.
- Manage volunteer schedules, assign tasks, and supervise teams during the Global Earth Repair Convergence and various Earth repair projects, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Oversee volunteer management systems such Zoho and Discord to track participation, donations, and project outcomes.
- Foster strong relationships with community partners, educational institutions, and local organizations to expand project reach and impact.
- Lead public awareness initiatives by creating compelling content for social media platforms to highlight project milestones and volunteer stories.
- Supervise the planning and execution of campus recruitment events and community workshops to promote ongoing engagement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in volunteer management, supervising teams, or leading community projects with a focus on environmental or social work.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse groups of volunteers and foster teamwork.
- Excellent public speaking abilities to effectively communicate project goals and inspire participation.
- Familiarity with Zoho and Discord
- Experience in social media management to promote initiatives and increase visibility.
- Background in social work or related fields is a plus, demonstrating a commitment to community service.
- Demonstrated skills in recruiting through campus outreach or public engagement activities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail in training & development efforts.
