Senior Software Engineer – Backend Development(cloud)

Project Introduction:

The Data Insights and Foundation team within Mercedes-Benz’s AI Experiences division is

undertaking a strategic initiative to design, develop, and deliver scalable, secure, and highperforming backend systems supporting data-driven applications across the organization.

The Service Provider will supply a Senior Software Engineer – Backend Development to

lead architecture, design, and implementation of backend services and data platforms that

power AI-driven applications, enhance data accessibility, and improve enterprise decisionmaking.

Key Objectives:

• Architect and deliver next-generation backend services and APIs supporting connected

vehicle data processing.

• Ensure scalability, reliability, and security for systems managing millions of daily data

transactions.

• Establish best practices and technical standards for data pipeline and backend service

implementation.

• Enable cross-functional collaboration with Product, Data Science, Infrastructure, and

Security teams.

Scope of Work:

The Service Provider shall perform the following services:

• Lead architecture and design of backend systems focused on scalability, reliability, and

security.

• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines integrating vehicle and third-party data sources.

• Develop RESTful APIs and data-focused microservices.

• Implement data warehouse and AI platform solutions ensuring data integrity and

scalability.

• Identify and mitigate bottlenecks to meet SLAs.

• Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices in CI/CD and agile delivery.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align backend strategy and priorities.

•Define and implement data stores based on customer requirements and system requirements

•Evaluate performance and security requirements to run systems in production

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 7 years of backend engineering experience (or equivalent with advanced degree)

• Expertise in distributed systems, containerized architectures (Kubernetes, Docker), and

cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Experience in one or more major programming languages (eg. GO,Kotlin, etc.).

• Experience with cloud platforms Microsoft Azure and AWS

• Experience with Serverless software development

• Proficiency in Java/Spring Boot or Go for API development

• Strong SQL/NoSQL and data modeling expertise

• Experience with stream processing frameworks (Apache Flink, Spark Streaming)

• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code

• Strong understanding of system security and compliance standards

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with frontend or full-stack development

• Background in automotive, IoT, or real-time data domains

• Contributions to open-source projects or published technical work
