Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop software architecture for embedded systems using C and C .
- Design high-level software architectures, interfaces, modules, APIs, and communication frameworks.
- Translate system and product requirements into detailed software requirements and architecture.
- Develop and review embedded C/C code for real-time and resource-constrained systems.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to software development teams.
- Define software design patterns, coding standards, interfaces, and reusable software components.
- Develop software for Linux and/or RTOS-based embedded platforms.
- Work closely with hardware, systems, controls, validation, and application engineering teams.
- Analyze complex technical issues and provide system-level solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews.
- Support integration, debugging, testing, and deployment of embedded software.
- Establish and maintain software architecture documentation, design specifications, interface definitions, and technical guidelines.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers and provide technical direction.
- Evaluate new technologies, tools, and development methodologies for embedded platforms.
- Support continuous improvement of software development, testing, CI/CD, and build processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 8 years of embedded software development experience, with significant experience in software architecture.
- Strong hands-on programming experience with C and C .
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience designing complex embedded software systems and defining module boundaries and interfaces.
- Strong experience with embedded Linux and/or RTOS such as FreeRTOS.
- Experience with real-time embedded software development.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience with software development and testing frameworks such as Google Test.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and code review practices.
- Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive, heavy machinery, construction equipment, industrial automation, or off-highway systems.
- Experience with CAN, CAN FD, J1939, Ethernet, TCP/IP, or other embedded communication protocols.
- Experience with embedded networking and communication stacks.
- Experience with Python/Bash scripting.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with embedded build systems and cross-compilation.
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR or similar embedded software architectures.
- Experience with debugging tools such as GDB, Lauterbach, or Wireshark.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink is a plus.
- Experience leading architecture activities across large, cross-functional engineering teams.
