Shop Technician Position Summary
Glick is a family-owned-and-operated business that employs more than 100 people throughout Pennsylvania. We offer high quality products and service for Fire & EMS companies. The Shop Technician will work Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm alongside other customer service employees to achieve optimum efficiency and excellent customer service, in keeping with the values and vision of Glick Fire Equipment.
Shop Technician Job Responsibilities
- Ensure high levels of quality control to all vehicles in our care and custody
- Maintain timely customer and management contact in regard to maintenance and repair results
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment in your area, wearing all required safety equipment
- Ensure all required PA State Inspection paperwork is maintained according to state laws
- Maintain a working knowledge of, and moderate skill proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems:
- Chassis component repair and maintenance
- Hydraulic & electrical systems, air & hydraulic braking systems
- Diesel engine repair & maintenance
- Suspension, drivetrain & steering systems
- Heating & air conditioning
- Ability to respond throughout the day to different tasks & go with the flow in a fluid environment
- Complete work orders efficiently, while utilizing Glick Fire's computerized database
- When needed, ensure customers are greeted promptly, with respect, either in person or on the phone
Shop Technician Requirements
- H.S. diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 yrs industry experience at an automotive level or heavy-duty truck level; HD truck exp. preferred. Will consider a strong mechanical background or technical experience.
- PA Commercial Driver's License (PA CDL) Class B with air brake & tanker endorsement encouraged.
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to US DOT Drug and Alcohol pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and return to duty testing
- If applicable, must have current Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card) or ability to obtain DOT Medical Card.
- PA State Inspection license – minimum of a Class 7 is encouraged.
- Maintain A/C Certification (CFC-12/HFC-134a) or must be obtained within 1 yr of start date
- Ability to lift 100 lbs with frequent lifting and/or carrying of 50 lbs.
