Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

We are seeking a versatile, energetic, and highly organized Kindergarten Teacher Assistant. This role splits time between two kindergarten classrooms, providing essential instructional support to both teachers while taking a lead role in daily student transitions.

The ideal candidate excels at managing routines—including breakfast, arrival, recess, lunch, and dismissal—ensuring a safe, positive, and structured environment for our youngest learners throughout the entire school day.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Routines & Transition Supervision

• Arrival & Breakfast: Welcome students each morning, assist with coat/backpack organization, and supervise the morning breakfast routine to ensure a calm, positive start to the day.

• Lunch & Recess: Lead the transition to the cafeteria and playground. Supervise students closely during meals and play, enforce safety rules, and actively help children resolve social conflicts.

• Dismissal: Assist teachers in organizing students at the end of the day, ensuring all children are safely guided to their correct buses, after-school programs, or parent pick-up zones.

2. Dual-Classroom Support

• Task Assistance: Balance duties between two assigned kindergarten classrooms, assisting both lead teachers with preparing instructional materials, organizing learning centers, and creating classroom displays.

• Small Group Support: Work flexibly in both rooms to facilitate small group activities, read-alouds, or one-on-one reinforcement of foundational reading and math skills.

• Classroom Management: Maintain consistency by learning and reinforcing the specific behavior management systems and routines of both classrooms.

  
  

Required:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
