The Glens Falls City School District has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications for a School Lunch Monitor at Kensington Road Elementary. This is a part-time (10-month) position, working 11:15-2:45 p.m. (3.5 hours M-F when school is in session). We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual to supervise students during lunch and recess periods at our elementary school. This position plays a vital role in ensuring student safety, promoting positive social interactions, and maintaining a structured environment during non-instructional time.
Key Responsibilities
Lunch Duty
- Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch periods
- Assist with opening containers, cleaning up spills, and general lunch support
- Monitor student behavior and enforce cafeteria rules
- Ensure students maintain appropriate noise levels
- Help students navigate the lunch line efficiently
Recess Duty
- Actively supervise outdoor and indoor recess activities
- Ensure student safety on playground equipment and during games
- Encourage inclusive play and positive peer interactions
- Monitor weather conditions and make safety-related decisions
- Assist with organizing games and activities when needed
- Handle minor injuries and incidents according to school protocol
General Duties
- Maintain accurate records of incidents or concerns
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and administration
- Follow all school policies and safety procedures
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and work in various weather conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to work well with elementary-aged children
- NYS Fingerprint Clearance is required.
