What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator position at GLENN METALCRAFT INC?
We are seeking a knowledgeable Safety Coordinator to join our team at Glenn Metalcraft Inc. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the company’s employee safety at work. The main goal of this position is to ensure that the company is complying and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and implement safety plans while ensuring they are being followed
• Educate employees on safety standards and expectations
• Schedules, coordinates, and participates in monthly safety meetings
• Conduct and coordinate safety observation reports on a regular basis
• Works directly with operations, facilities, and other departments on safety initiatives to reduce work related injuries
• Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
• Attend safety walks and inspections
• Document emergency and evacuation procedures for all facilities
• Coordinate with facilities and departments to conduct annual practice evacuation procedures (Fire drills, etc.)
• Work with HR to set up new employee onboarding process for safety
• Prepare and present on near misses and accidents and determine causes
• Coordinate with facilities and production teams to mitigate any safety hazards on new equipment prior to arrival
• Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents, and related events
• Coordinate with facilities to maintain MNSHARP certification and/or assist in becoming certified
• Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as OSHA
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Registration as a Certified Safety Professional or similar form preferred
• Skilled at effective communications at both technical and professional levels including great interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of federal, state, and city safety requirements, including OSHA
Skills and Competencies
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
• Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
• Standing, walking, and bending periodically
• Must be able to lift 15-20 pounds occasionally
• Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers - typing and/or writing
• Receiving and responding to oral communication

The expected base pay range for this position is between $25 and $32 per hour. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
