Position Overview //
The Market Director is a key executive leadership role responsible for driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence within the Sarasota market. This individual will lead all aspects of market performance including land acquisition strategy, sales and marketing execution, customer experience, and coordination with design and construction teams.
The ideal candidate has hands-on construction experience and a deep understanding of how to build a home from the ground up. It is a strong bonus if the candidate is a licensed contractor in the state of Florida. This position is supported by a fully developed team in Sarasota and reports to Glenn Layton Homes’ President and CEO.
Key Responsibilities //
· Develop and execute market strategy to meet growth, revenue, and profitability goals
· Oversee lead generation and local brand positioning in alignment with company vision
· Collaborate closely with sales, design, and construction leaders to ensure a seamless client experience
· Identify land acquisition and development opportunities; assist in feasibility and due diligence
· Maintain deep understanding of competitive landscape, buyer trends, and regulatory conditions
· Represent the company in community events, realtor networks, and industry associations
· Hire, mentor, and manage high-performing local team members
· Report regularly to executive leadership on market performance, forecasts, and key initiatives
Qualifications //
· 5 years of experience in custom homebuilding, with a strong understanding of the home construction process
· Proven leadership experience with a track record of driving business results
· Deep knowledge of local market dynamics, zoning regulations, and the high-end homebuyer demographic
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with clients, partners, and internal teams
· Strategic thinker with an eye for design, branding, and market positioning
· Florida contractor’s license is a plus
