Position Summary:
Our skilled nursing facility, Glenfields, is guided by the household model of care, which means residents live in "households," or living units made up of 18 private rooms, and shared community spaces such as a kitchen, dining room, living room, and sunroom. Unlike in a traditional nursing home, the household model of care emphasizes a person-centered approach where residents have control over their daily lives and living environment.
Supporting the household model of care and working closely with the Life Enrichment team, the Specialist is responsible for carrying out assigned activities to enhance the residents’ quality of life. This role will assist with independent and structured activities. They will help focus on promoting emotional well-being, cognitive engagement, and a sense of purpose in the residents’ daily lives.
Qualifications:
- Previous work experience with the elderly, cognitive decline. Activities background is preferred but not necessary.
- Collaborates and works effectively with others
- Possess leadership ability, problem solving skills, ability to prioritize responsibilities and to work under stressful situations, good verbal and written communication skills, self-directed and work autonomously.
- Possess patience, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- True desire to work with the elderly.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation decisions are made based off of several factors including relevant work experience, education, certification and licensure as well as internal equity. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of their hourly range.
Hourly Range:
$16.91-$22.04
