About the role:
The Plant Engineer is responsible for maintaining the facility and all technical equipment at a brick manufacturing plant. As ap art of this role, you will plan, coordinate, and execute all activities concerned with plant design, construction, safety, maintenance, and improvement, including all related technical equipment and products; this includes oversight, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex robotic, automated, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment used in the brick manufacturing process.
The person in this role will also oversee the testing of newly installed technical equipment to ensure the fulfillment of contract specifications. Adapt to and remain current with computerized equipment and plant process improvement procedures.

- Works with the Plant Superintendent, Plant Managers, and other managerial staff to maintain the facility and all plant equipment.
- Retrofits and redesigns existing equipment as necessary to maximize productivity while reducing costs.
- Maintains the cost-effective preventative and predictive maintenance programs which are designed to minimize production downtime and maximize productivity in manufacturing.
- Trains and supervises all plant maintenance employees, helping to develop required skills and ensure the team stays abreast of the latest technology and engineering updates for the mechanical equipment and processes in use at the plant.
- Prepares and maintains short- and long-term engineering and maintenance budgets.
- Assists in the preparation of annual capital expenditure budgets and capital expenditure requests by determining viability and cost-effectiveness of proposed plant projects and improvements.
- Prepares bid sheets, contracts, and technical drawings for new construction and capital improvement projects. Maintains knowledge of OSHA and environmental compliance procedures.
- Establishes standards and policies for pollution control in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, which include proper testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment to comply with regulations.
- Assists in the procurement and review of operating permits for the facility and all of its equipment.
- Performs advanced programmable logic controller (PLC) and robotics work to control manufacturing processes.
- Solves practical engineering problems with regard to the installation and maintenance of complex engineering systems and equipment to ensure efficient operation, minimize downtime, and maintain compliance with engineering standards and productivity metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering.
- 1 year or experience in a position in plant engineering and maintenance in a heavy industry with supervisory duties.
