What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician Apprentice position at Glatt Air Techniques?
Essential Job Function: Shift work. Under direct supervision of senior maintenance staff the apprentice will assist in preventative maintenance and repairs of facility building and grounds. Assist in operation of utility equipment and support basic production requirements as training dictates. Use industry accepted best practices during execution of your job function.
General Information: Assist in performing preventative/corrective maintenance in an FDA registered industrial manufacturing facility. Demonstrate willingness to invest time training to advance position. Exhibit comprehension of instruction. Cooperative and able to work as part of a team. Show professional growth and independence over time. This is a “hands on” position. Ability to use various hand and power tools necessary in performing the essential job function. Must be able to lift, bend and carry up to 80 lbs. Must maintain you driving record in good standing. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Trade school or other technical training, mechanical or construction experience is a plus.
This position is classified as a “safety sensitive” position and is subject to random drug testing.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Follow all Glatt SOP’s, cGMP’s policies and procedures.
2. Follow instruction from supervisor and senior maintenance staff and carry out tasks in a timely manner.
3. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
4. Participate in managing inventory of maintenance supplies and parts.
5. Develop customer service, communication and teamwork skills with other technicians’ departments within the organization.
6. Ability to follow safety guidelines including but not limited to use of ladders, hand & power tools and safe lifting practices
7. Assist in general building maintenance including but not limited to minor carpentry, wall/ceiling repair, surface preparation and finish painting, plumbing fixture repair and drain cleaning.
8. Assist in the preventative maintenance and repair of Glatt’s utility systems including but not limited HVAC, steam and heat generating systems, purified water, compressed air and dust collection equipment.
9. Assist in the preventative maintenance and repair of Glatt’s process equipment including but not limited fluid bed dryers, pan coaters, tablet presses, encapsulates and other ancillary equipment.
10. Assist in metal parts fabrication or repair.
11. Assist in construction, crating and preparation of equipment for shipment.
12. Assist other facility personal in daily activities.
13. Assist other GAT employees with labor intensive duties (i.e. moving furniture, boxes, ect.).
14. Keep supervisor informed on all developments on a routine basis.
15. Develop and encourage good interpersonal working relationships among department staff and with other customer departments.
16. Complete required paperwork and documentation in a clear, accurate and in a timely manner.
17. Maintain an organized and clean workspace at all times.
18. Work additional hours to complete repairs to accommodate business needs.
19. Work schedule may vary to accommodate manufacturing/processing functions (weekends/shifts).
20. Must be able to pass forklift operator certification.
21. Willingness to attain High Pressure Black Seal boiler operator license.
22. Through training, learn to independently exchange resin cylinders on purified water systems.
23. Any and all other tasks assigned by your supervisor or designee.
