Job Summary
Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Receptionist and Data Entry Clerk, where your enthusiasm and organizational skills will play a vital role in providing exceptional care for zoo animals. In this multifaceted position, you’ll manage some front-desk operations, handle accurate data entry, and support clinical staff with essential administrative and animal care-related tasks. Your energetic approach will ensure smooth daily operations, foster positive relationships, and contribute to the well-being of the zoo's diverse animal collection.
Responsibilities
- Assist zoo veterinarians with appointment scheduling to ensure timely animal care.
- Accurately enter and update animal records, including detailed lab results.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff on cases requiring historical information on patient diagnostics and medical history.
- Manage phone inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with preparing, packing and shipping lab samples.
- Support animal health center activities by assisting, when needed, with animal care.
- Assist with animal handling tasks, as requested, to support veterinary procedures.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data entry with attention to detail to ensure accuracy of animal records.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, some animal anatomy, and basic animal care practices.
- Experience with basic medical collection processes and laboratory procedures within a veterinary setting is a plus, but not required.
- Additional veterinary experience is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
