Summary:
GDI is looking for a detail-oriented AutoCAD Designer to support site civil engineering and land surveying projects. You will have an opportunity to work on projects of all scales and types, from single-family estates to multi-family residential, redevelopment, commercial, solar, warehouse, and even golf facilities. You will work in a collaborative environment with surveyors, engineers, and project managers. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ALTA, Boundary, Topographic Surveys, As-built drawings and maps, Specific Purpose Surveys; Plot Plans, and Subdivision Record Plats by using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Draft existing conditions, easements, right-of-way, and legal descriptions
- Organize and manage CAD files, layers, and standards in accordance with company and client requirements
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues
- Assist with revisions and redlines throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality control of drawings prior to submission
- Maintain project documentation and drawing files
- Participate in the company Safety Program
Occasional Field Responsibilities:
- Adjust & operate surveying instruments (prisms, total stations, GPS/electronic distance-measuring equipment, auto-levels, etc.)
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and data collection files
- Position targets to measure angles, distances, and elevations
- Perform manual labor, such as cutting brush to clear lines, carrying stakes, rebar, and other items, and staking survey monumentation
- Perform construction staking activities
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with 2D planimetric drafting
- Familiarity working with 3D surfaces
- Experience with registration of point clouds and extraction of data for preparing topographic mapping.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
