What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Electrician position at GL Staffing Services?
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our manufacturing facility maintenance team. This individual will be responsible for installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial electrical systems and manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with panel building, machinery wiring, conduit installation, and electrical service work within an industrial environment. Journeyman Electrician certification is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and machinery
- Build and wire electrical control panels for manufacturing equipment
- Install outlets, disconnects, conduit, and power distribution for industrial machinery
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
- Diagnose electrical issues involving motors, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, and controls
- Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility electrical systems
- Ensure all work complies with OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards
- Assist with machine installations, relocations, and upgrades
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime
Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician license preferred
- 3 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and controls
- Experience building control panels and wiring machinery
- Ability to install conduit, outlets, breakers, and machine power systems
- Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting is a plus
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work around industrial machinery
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with exposure to noise and heat
