Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor will lead mechanical and electrical assemblers supporting soldering, general assembly, and fabrication operations. This role is responsible for planning and coordinating hardware through assembly processes, reporting production status, and managing quality, schedule, and performance goals across multiple work cells and production areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction to mechanical and electrical assemblers.
• Manage production schedules to ensure delivery, cost, and quality objectives are met.
• Conduct hiring and workforce reductions as needed to support production requirements.
• Create a work environment that promotes employee morale, engagement, and performance.
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate employee performance.
• Ensure training plans are implemented and effective.
• Build a flexible workforce through cross-training initiatives.
• Maintain positive employee relations and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
• Coordinate with other supervisors and managers to ensure smooth operations within and between departments.
• Maintain visual management tools, including KPI boards and performance charts, to monitor progress, identify priorities, and drive corrective actions.
• Supervise operations across multiple shifts as needed.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and eliminate wasteful practices and improve departmental processes.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and ensure compliance with safety and 5S standards.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Maintain ownership and accountability for production floor activities.

Supervises

Hourly production personnel, including mechanical assemblers, electrical assemblers, and technicians assigned to the assembly production line.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong background in electronics and solder assembly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, flexible manufacturing environment, including overtime as required.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering and other cross-functional teams across multiple platforms and departments.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong experience with MRP systems.
• Ability to work with ITAR-controlled data without requiring an export license.

Education, Experience, and Training

• Associate degree in Electronics, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum of two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience, or relevant technical experience within the defense industry.
• Prior experience in the defense industry preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience in a complex manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with production tracking, scheduling, cost management, and quality management in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with RF filters, oscillators, and crystals preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required for the position.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
