Material Handler
Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to shipping, receiving, inventory management, and production fulfillment. The ideal candidate will have intermediate math and computer skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to think creatively to improve stockroom processes while maintaining accurate and organized inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive incoming purchase orders for electronic components and raw materials using MS Dynamics AX (MRP).
- Examine incoming shipments against packing slips and communicate any discrepancies to the Purchasing team.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts of components, completed goods, and finished products.
- Pull, count, kit, and release production orders to Manufacturing as directed by Planning.
- Prepare shipping and receiving documentation and accurately maintain related records.
- Load and unload shipments from carriers and LTL trucks while following proper safety procedures.
- Prepare and process international shipments to offshore facilities on a weekly basis.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for record keeping, reporting, and communication.
- Coordinate with Operations regarding the status and availability of materials, kits, production orders, and logistics.
- Ensure the timely completion of daily receiving, inventory, shipping, and material-handling activities.
- Assist with answering departmental phone calls and provide timely and professional customer service support as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by following 5S, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), and company safety policies.
- Perform other material-handling and warehouse-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform basic to intermediate mathematical calculations accurately.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with peers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to identify process improvements and develop creative solutions to improve stockroom and inventory processes.
- Knowledge of electronic component specifications and experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) is preferred.
- Ability to properly handle and protect ITAR-controlled data and materials in accordance with applicable requirements.
Education, Experience, and Training
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management, shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, material handling, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or electronics environment is a plus.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, particularly MS Dynamics AX, is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required for the position.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform other physical movements required for material-handling activities.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to chemicals, fumes, and related by-products.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must follow all applicable safety, quality, environmental, and manufacturing procedures.
