Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager plays a key role in overseeing front-of-house operations, supporting the General Manager, and ensuring consistent execution of Gjelina’s service standards. This role focuses on team leadership, guest relations, operational oversight, financial performance, and maintaining strong communication between FOH and BOH.
The ideal candidate brings a calm, positive leadership style, a commitment to hospitality, and the ability to elevate both team and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on leadership to FOH teams, ensuring service excellence and smooth daily operations.
- Oversee floor readiness, ambiance, guest flow, and overall dining room execution.
- Support scheduling, labor management, and daily staffing needs.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and assist with ongoing training, coaching, and menu education.
- Mentor and develop FOH leadership and hourly staff, reinforcing accountability and teamwork.
- Maintain strong alignment with BOH leadership to ensure communication, consistency, and service flow.
- Lead guest recovery, resolve issues promptly, and maintain a warm, professional presence on the floor.
- Assist the GM with administrative and financial responsibilities, including inventory oversight, P&L review, and support for budget and revenue goals.
- Ensure adherence to all California health, safety, labor, and company policies.
- Model a culture of hospitality, respect, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in a high-volume, elevated dining environment (AGM or Senior Floor Manager experience preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to remain composed under pressure and lead by example.
- Proficiency with POS systems, reporting tools, scheduling platforms, and operational processes.
- Skilled in training, motivating, and developing large teams.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels.
