Role Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of Givebacks Inc., serving as a key partner to the executive team. This is a hands-on role, overseeing daily accounting activities, payroll administration, financial reporting, AR/AP management, and tax compliance. As a one-person finance team, the ideal candidate must be comfortable operating autonomously, with strong attention to detail and a passion for creating efficient, scalable processes to support company growth.


What You’ll Do:


Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Provide monthly budget-to-actuals reporting with variance analysis and strategic insights.

Payroll Administration:

  • Administer semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, commissions, and benefits.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal payroll tax regulations, managing timely tax filings and payments.
  • Set up and manage payroll tax registrations in applicable states and maintain up-to-date compliance.

Tax Compliance & Coordination:

  • Partner with external CPA firm to prepare and file annual tax returns and quarterly tax estimates.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all tax-related inquiries and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, and file annual reports as required.

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Management:

  • Oversee AR and AP activities, including invoicing, payment collections, and vendor management.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for all vendors and ensure timely payment of invoices.

Spend Management & Procurement:

  • Manage corporate credit cards and employee reimbursements, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
  • Regularly analyze spending to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Cash Flow Management & Expense Control:

  • Monitor cash flow to ensure a strong cash position and optimize expense management.
  • Implement strategies to achieve a 5% reduction in non-essential expenses within the first 6 months.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement:

  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine accounting processes for greater efficiency and transparency.
  • Create and update process documentation for all key accounting activities.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, we believe this candidate must embody the following characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 5 years of experience in accounting and finance with a focus on bookkeeping, financial reporting, AR/AP, payroll and tax administration.
  • Strong Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proven track record of managing payroll and state/federal tax compliance.
  • Experience implementing scalable accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ensures accuracy and precision in all financial operations.
  • Self-Motivated: Thrives in a remote work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Problem Solver: Proactively identifies issues and implements effective solutions.
  • Process-Oriented: Creates streamlined and scalable processes.
  • Effective Communicator: Clearly conveys complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Enthusiasm: Passionate and excited about work, with a positive, can-do attitude
