What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Driver position at GIRTZ INDUSTRIES?
Job Purpose: Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailer, box truck, or flatbed combination to transport and deliver product loose or in packaged form.
Job Requirements:
- Must have a current valid Class A CDL license.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or 3 – 6 months related experience and / or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be willing to work in the finish area when not driving.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and other employees of the organization in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to effectively solve problems.
- Will be regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
- The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job duties:
- This job has no supervisory skills.
- Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.
- Drives truck to destination.
- Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations.
- Assists workers in loading and unloading trucks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
