ATHLETICS AT GPS:

The GPS Athletics mission includes teaching girls to be team players, understand the importance of mental toughness, accept challenges enthusiastically, and value strength, fitness, stamina, and good health. POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Racquets Professional is a part-time position and will assist and/or lead organized clinics, events, and tournaments  as well as support the overall growth of the racquets program through summer camps and programming initiatives. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support and maintain a standard of performance consistent with the institution’s goals of athletic excellence while supporting the school’s standards for academic and personal discipline; 
• Enforce all school athletic policies, emphasize good sportsmanship in word and behavior, and encourage healthy lifestyles; 

• In conjunction with the Tennis Operations Coordinator, assist in coordinating lessons and clinics to promote the growth of the admissions pipeline for future GPS student-athletes;  

• Teach lessons, clinics and as requested by the Tennis Operations Coordinator.  
• Maintain current certification with approved governing organizations; USPTA, PTR, PPR 
• Ensure accurate daily completion of member charges and payment for all junior and adult lessons. No lessons are to be provided at any off-site facility. 
• Assist with additional special events 
• Perform other duties as directed by the Head of School, Director of Athletics and Strategic Planning, or Tennis Operations Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of two years of previous coaching experience preferred but not required; collegiate or comparable tennis playing experience, pickleball experience a plus

• Willingness to work with and encourage players of various ages and playing abilities;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
• Collegial, eager, and collaborative work ethic for the betterment of the athletes and GPS Athletics;
• Ability to work night and weekends when needed

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and work in varying weather conditions
