Organization Summary

Girls on the Run Treasure Valley is a local nonprofit organization that operates in agreement with Girls on the Run International and is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Our program currently serves six counties in southwest Idaho. Founded in 2001, Girls on the Run Treasure Valley has served over 15,000 girls in our community, and almost 800 girls participate in our life-changing program each year. Girls on the Run Treasure Valley hosts programs both in the Spring and Fall seasons.


Girls on the Run believes that all girls and communities should have access to our programs. We commit to eliminating barriers to participation, to continuing to create programming that engages all communities, to being intentional about staff and volunteer diversity, and to promoting a culture of inclusion across the organization.

 

Position Profile

The Girls on the Run Program Coordinator is passionate about and committed to improving the lives and opportunities of girls and non-binary youth in third through eighth grades. Reporting to the Girls on the Run Program Manager, this position builds relationships with local schools and city partners in order to grow programming and reputation in the community and is primarily responsible for site and student recruitment. Some of the key responsibilities include:


Responsibilities

Program Outreach and Management

·        Work with the Program Manager and team to recruit all program sites for Fall and Spring seasons in alignment with program growth goals, focusing efforts in underserved communities and Title 1 schools.

o  Recruitment occurs through marketing efforts, meetings with school and city leaders, utilizing connections from volunteers, Board Members, families, and more.

·        Cultivate relationships through regular communications, appreciation, and organizational partnership opportunities, with Community Program Partners such as:

o  School Districts

o  Cities

o  Key Dedicated Site Liaisons

  • Support participant recruitment for all Program including fliers/posters, yard signs, and more. Collaborate with Program Manager on social media and email communication for recruitment. Update Girl Recruitment Toolkit resources each season in collaboration with the Program Manager. Support the needs of new and existing sites, conducting site visits to ensure quality program implementation

·         Promote overall program to build awareness of GOTR and Heart & Sole in local communities at community events and school/site meetings.

·        Main contact for Site Liaison communications, offering support to teams that may need assistance before and during the season.

·        Building connections/relationships with GOTR community and Treasure Valley community

·        As main GOTR contact, engage families of GOTR participants through newsletters, 5K involvement, fundraising opportunities, and potential community events.

·        Develop and facilitate engaging presentations for site and participant recruitment.

·        Participate in Strategic Planning for all aspects of program development including preparation for the season ahead, long-term sustainability planning, staff growth needs, and more.

·        Maintain responsive customer service through replying to email in a timely manner and assisting with phone calls and returning voicemails.

·        Attend and assist with annual fundraising events such as GOTR Mile and Idaho Gives Events, another events to support GOTR.

·        Attend and assist with fall and spring 5K events and take a lead in a defined area as determined by the Program Manager and Executive Director.

·        Assist with Fall & Spring coach training events and take the lead in defined areas determined by the Program Manager.

·        Collaborate consistently with Program Manager and Executive Director to develop program systems and goals.

·        Assist Program Manager with Unstoppable Us girl-led fundraising program, including updating collateral, prize selection, donation tracking, and prize fulfillment.

·        Support Program Manager in relationship deliverables and giveaways such as gift cards, gift baskets and in-kind donations for volunteers.

·        On-call coach support during program season – with support from Program Manager in monitoring the coach support calls until all after-school Girls on the Run practices have concluded (approximately 6 pm) during our 8-week fall program season and 8-week spring program season.

·        

Season 5K Events

·        Assist PM and ED to develop a volunteer needs plan  

·        Support and ensure effective 5K-related communication occurs with Girls on the Run coaches, parents, and other stakeholders 

·        Provide leadership on the celebratory 5K, ensuring a positive experience for volunteers, participants, and vendors  

·        Assist with Girl Village vendors and partners.

·        Assist with track event statistics and evaluation (ex: number of participants, medals, shirts, bibs) 


COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT 

·        Assist with Race Partnerships and contribute to GOTRTV event needs (includes tabling, booths, volunteers, etc.)  

·        Assist with community partnerships to create diverse opportunities for engagement, outreach, and fundraising.

·        Assist and attend community events (expos, community partnerships, fitness classes, Lunch and Learn, etc.)

·        Attend and assist with annual fundraising events such as the GOTR Mile, Idaho Gives, etc.


 

 

General Team Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in weekly staff meeting, coming prepared and engaging in collective problem-solving.
  • Attend Girls on the Run International trainings.
  • Participate in and support GOTRI initiatives and task forces as requested
  • Demonstrate a commitment to using the opportunities of this position to make Girls on the Run Treasure Valley a more Inclusive, Diverse, Equitable and Accessible organization.

Hours will be a combination of in office, in the community, and via remote work. Because this position regularly travels for site visits, consistent access to reliable transportation, sometimes on very short notice, is required for this position.
