Camp Counselor

Position Description: Camp Counselors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all campers while modeling the mission and values of Girl Scouting. This role includes supervising 10-40 campers, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, and contributing to a positive and engaging camp atmosphere. Counselors are expected to demonstrate strong leadership, a positive attitude, and a commitment to supporting daily camp operations and program delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, gather supplies for, and run camp activities that fit campers’ needs and interests.
• Use positive behavior-management skills to help solve conflicts between campers.
• Help keep all camp areas clean and organized.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and support campers in developing their own problem-solving abilities.
• Be a positive role model—by modeling good manners, respect, cleanliness, punctuality, and appropriate language and behavior.
• Support the mission and values of Girl Scouts by becoming a member.

• Minimum age: 18.
• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED or willingness to complete a certification course.

• Prior camp experience and/or interest in the outdoors.
• Experience working with or supervising children that are 7 years and above.

• Maintain physical health and stamina required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 40 lbs.

• Commit to all 4 weeks plus the additional training week.
