Through activities in S.T.E.M., Entrepreneurship, the Outdoors and Life Skills, Girl Scouting provides girls with opportunities for fun and friendship while fostering the development of leadership skills and self-esteem.

We are currently seeking an experienced**Facilities and Guest Services Manager**

to lead operations at the Cathy Novinger Girl Scout Leadership Center, Columbia, SC as well as oversee the Aiken Girl Scout Hut.

This key role is responsible for the overall management of facility operations, guest services, vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The manager will develop and implement operational procedures, manage budgets, negotiate service agreements, and ensure that both properties are maintained to the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership by directing staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure an exceptional guest experience. This position plays a vital role in supporting the council's mission, strengthening community relationships, and promoting the long-term sustainability of council properties.

  • Please note:**This position requires availability to respond to emergencies at the CNGSLC on a 24-hour basis.

Customer And Guest Services

  • Serves as the primary host, resource, and emergency contact for all property usage and site rentals at the CNGSLC.
  • Acts as the council's on-site representative, exercising discretion in coordinating contractors, vendors, inspectors, volunteers, and other site visitors.
  • Directs and oversees event set up and breakdown, delegating or performing tasks as necessary to ensure smooth operations. Develops and manages vendor relationships, including negotiating service agreements and pricing structures that enhance guest experiences and generate additional revenue opportunities in alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with council staff, volunteers, and outside users to plan and coordinate site activities, ensuring facilities are properly maintained and prepared.
  • Represents the council in the community by fostering positive relationships with neighbors, civic groups, regulatory agencies, and partner organizations.
  • Establishes service standards, monitors guest feedback, and resolves issues to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external customers regarding event details, providing written documentation and follow-up to support successful execution.

Facilities And Property Management

  • Provides overall management of building infrastructure, utilities, and facility operations for the CNGSLC and Aiken Girl Scout Hut.
  • Develops and oversees preventive maintenance plans to ensure facilities, grounds, and equipment remain in optimal condition to support council programming and rentals.
  • Oversees janitorial, lawn care, and service vendors, ensuring compliance with established quality standards; performs or directs corrective maintenance, as necessary.
  • Administers facility systems (HVAC, lighting, security, cameras, access control) to ensure effective and secure operations.
  • Evaluates and resolves facility issues, exercising discretion in determining when to perform repairs, contract out work, or escalate issues. Ensures compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations, insurance requirements, American Camp Association (ACA) standards, and council risk management policies.
  • Maintains records, documentation, and inventory of fixed assets, tools, and supplies in support of facility operations.
  • Monitors property conditions, identifying isks or damage and taking appropriate corrective action.
  • Complies with current insurance, local, county, state and federal government codes, laws, and regulations including building codes. Assists in maintaining site compliance with regulations, restrictions, and standards of Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints, ACA, and local, state, health, and building codes.

Leadership And Administration

  • Develops and manages the facility operating budget, monitoring expenditures, and recommending cost-saving measures.
  • Establishes, documents, and improves standard operating procedures (SOPs) for facility and property management functions.
  • Participates in long-range planning for facility improvements, risk management initiatives, and operational strategies.
  • Recruits, organizes, and manages volunteers and/or contractors for work weekends, service projects, and special initiatives.
  • Oversees maintenance and compliance of council-owned vehicles assigned to the property.
  • Manages procurement of supplies and consumables in alignment with budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensures organizational goals for facility management are achieved; recommends changes in work methods, practices, and policies to support efficiency, safety, and revenue growth.
  • Assists in the smooth functioning of the council by performing other duties as assigned.

Other

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed to support events and facility operations.
  • Ability to lift, move or carry materials up to 50 lbs. as needed in support of facility operations.
  • Upon hire, must hold and maintain active membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Must have personal transportation and ability to drive, possess a valid driver's license, maintain personal auto insurance/meet the council insurance company's requirement for coverage, and submit to a background check.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, property operations, or hospitality/event management.
  • Experience supervising staff, contractors, or volunteers, with demonstrated ability to lead and direct others.
  • Proven experience developing and managing budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.
