What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Camp Health Center Supervisor position at Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio?
The Health Center Supervisor is responsible for the overall operations of the Health Center. They must be prepared to assist with providing routine and emergency care to campers, staff, and volunteers, monitor children with chronic diseases, educate campers and staff on preventative health issues, and collaborate with camp administrators to implement policies that reduce the risk of injury or illness. Flexibility, critical thinking and problem-solving skills enable the health staff to promote and protect the health of the entire camp community.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Provide Health Care for campers, staff, and volunteers; maintain accurate records of all care provided.
- Respond to all emergencies in a professional manner.
- Follow appropriate medical routines, including but not limited to: record keeping, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding of all medications, and utilizing approved standing orders.
- Maintain a safe and clean camp environment including the health center. Report any concerns to the supervisor.
- Directly supervise the Health Clerk and any Sessional volunteers assigned to the Health Center, including coaching and evaluating.
- Notify Camp Director immediately of any serious injury, illness, or near-miss.
- Follow and maintain all safety and cleaning protocols, including sanitation schedules, safety guidelines, and procedures for all camp facilities.
- Execute a system for health screening and orientation of campers, staff, and volunteers, both at the Redlands office and at camp.
- Maintain First Aid kits for units, kitchen, program areas, and vehicles.
- Complete and submit all reports and evaluations on time.
- Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary to ensure timely arrival of supplies.
- Assist in the opening and closing of camp.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Adhere to Council’s Affirmative Action Policy, which ensures that there will be no discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, sex, creed, national origin, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- Adhere to all council policies and procedures and the standards of the American Camp Association and other local or state agencies.

EDUCATION l WORK EXPERIENCE l CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least 5 years of driving experience with a valid driver's license

- Ability to work within established procedures and to recognize the important responsibilities of the position.
- Manage time effectively, work independently and handle several projects at the same time.
- Must be able to comprehend and practice all safety protocols and cleaning schedules for all facilities.

- Ability to lift 50 pounds and physically meet the demands of camp life.
- Ability to monitor health care, maintain accurate records, implement the camp health care plan, and provide for the health and safety of campers and staff.
- Ability to work with adults and children regardless of age, race, disability, religion, ethnic, or socioeconomic background.
- Possess a positive attitude and be flexible, responsible, patient and enthusiastic
Minimum License, Certifications & Affiliations/Memberships and CEU’s:
- Maintain throughout employment a driver’s license valid in the state of California and insurability through Council Carrier.
- Must successfully complete a criminal history background check and fingerprinting.
- At least 5 years of driving experience with a valid driver’s license.
- Hold at least a current Level 2 CPR/First Aid Certification (Sport Safety Training, Standard First Aid/CPR plus First Aid, When Help is Delayed, First Aid Responding to Emergencies, Emergency Response, Advanced First Aid & CPR, Wilderness First Aid, or First Responder), EMT, LVN, or RN preferred.
- Hold an EMSA approved certificate of completion for a Preventative Health and Safety course.
- Completed at least 15 hours of health and safety training that includes pediatric first aid, pediatric CPR, and a preventative health practices course that covers the recognition, management, and prevention of infectious diseases.

For 2026, camp staff will have the opportunity to work at one of our 3 amazing camp properties! While Skyland Ranch will act as your home base for the summer season, you may be assigned to work a Troop Camp session at Azalea Trails or a Day Camp session at Wi-Wo-Ca! A typical week at Skyland Ranch begins with staff check-in at 8:00 AM on Mondays and conclude with a weekly wrap-up meeting after dinner on Fridays. Weekend programs range from 1.5-hour horse meet-and-greets to 2-day (Saturday to Sunday) family overnights.
Our summer season for staff runs from as early as June 1st for some positions, and can go as late as August 1st. Due to the diverse range of summer programs we're offering, we ask our staff to be available all 7 days during the week and will receive at least 24 hours off each week.
