Job Summary:
The Health Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of all campers and staff. The Health Supervisor will provide medical treatment to campers and staff in case of illness or emergencies within his or her scope of practice, and maintain communication with parents where applicable. The Health Supervisor will also complete the medical check-in process of all campers, keep and review medical records, maintain and order medical equipment for the camp, distribute camper medication, and ensure that sanitation and safety practices are maintained throughout the camp.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

Provide health care to meet the individual needs of camp staff and campers by following health care policies and procedures as described by the NYS Department of Health, Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, and American Camp Association Standards, and collaborating with counselors and other staff about medical needs of campers.

Ensure the camp health center is inventoried and order all necessary supplies and equipment prior to the start of the camp season. Set up the camp health center prior to the start of the camp season.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records that are in compliance with New York State standards.

Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications, including gathering and documenting first aid records from other staff members.

Ensure camper and staff health examinations are current and on file.

Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms as applicable.

Maintaining in-depth knowledge about the facility and its emergency action plan and activate the emergency action plan when necessary; respond to on-site incidents and accidents. Follow reporting procedures to the Camp Director and GSNYPENN Director of Outdoor Experience.

Utilize CPR and First Aid training as necessary.

Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout the camp, including to the units/lodges, office, kitchen, waterfront, and program areas, ensuring supplies are well-stocked and re-distributed as needed.

Deliver an orientation session during pre-camp staff training on medical services; ensure the camp staff know their role related to health care and first aid; provide orientation on health care procedures, emergency procedures, staff health assessment of campers, accident prevention, and procedures for giving first aid in the camp setting.

Communicate relevant camper information (health, behavioral, emotional, medical, etc.) to appropriate staff each week.
Minimum Qualification Standards:

Be at least 21 years of age.

Hold one of the following: Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Physician, or Physician’s Assistant (PA).

Knowledge of and experience working with children in a medical setting.

Ability to maintain health records.

Ability to administer medication or supervise the self-administration of medication.

Current advanced level CPR certification that is in compliance with NYS Department of Health regulations, or willingness to obtain.

Current advanced level First Aid certification that is in compliance with NYS Department of Health regulations, or willingness to obtain.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
