An Assistant Camp Director- Waterfront has an awesome summer outdoors, being a mentor to campers, and providing fun all day long! Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Camp is one of the outlets to make that mission a reality for many campers. The Assistant Camp Director-Waterfront is a part of that mission each summer.
As an Assistant Camp Director- Waterfront, you will organize and administer activities at the waterfront consistent with Girl Scout and American Camping Association standards.
As an Assistant Camp Director-Waterfront, you will:
- Assist in the administration and coordination of the entire camp operation.
- Act as Camp Director in the absence of Camp Director.
- Assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of camp staff who are lifeguards.
- Assist the Camp Director in planning and conducting staff meetings.
- Serve as a constant, visible and available resource for camp staff.
- Keep Camp Director informed of day-to-day operational successes and concerns.
- Develop and carry out waterfront activities including the pool and lake areas that are age appropriate and tie into the Girl Scout program.
- Design, implement, and document weekly waterfront in-services for safety at the pool and lake areas.
- Responsible for the care and use of lifeguard equipment, shower house, lake front, and canoeing equipment. Request necessary repairs and maintenance to Site Manger/Camp Director.
- Responsible for bi-weekly/weekly cleaning of the pool including vacuuming, scrubbing the sides of the pool and rinsing of the pool deck.
- Prepare reports and paperwork as requested by the Camp Director.
- Assist with pre-camp and staff in-services throughout the summer.
- Teach campers and staff water, swimming, and canoeing safety.
- Assist with check-in and checkout.
- Lead weekly swim checks for campers, to assess swimming abilities.
- Have excellent time management, organization, communication, and leadership skills.
- All other duties as assigned by Camp Director.

- Believe in the mission of Girl Scouting.
- Good character, integrity, adaptability, patience, sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
- Currently holds or willing to renew lifeguard certification. If needed training is provided prior to camp.
- Has at least one year of lifeguard experience.
- Hold or being willing to obtain current certification of standard First Aid and CPR (training to be provided).
- Be able to act calmly and quickly in emergency situations.
- Training and/or experience working with children in a waterfront setting.
- Be able to effectively teach waterfront skills and supervise campers.
- Good time management, organization and communication skills.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision and relate to one’s peer group.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have excellent time management, organization, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate daily activities at waterfront areas.
- Produce a physical signed by medical professional within the past 24 months.
- Ability to supervise staff and perform administrative duties.
- Hold a current driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a Background Check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting 20 - 50 pounds.
- Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
All staff must be familiar with the safety rules and regulations. They must take reasonable steps to ensure their own health and safety, and that of anyone else who may be affected by their actions. They should inform their supervisor of any hazard with which they are not trained.
