Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of construction machinery including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes to perform excavation, grading, and utility installation tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on equipment such as Caterpillar machinery and other heavy-duty tools to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities using specialized equipment and following federal safety regulations to prevent accidents.
- Support excavation projects by preparing sites, managing soil movement, and ensuring proper grading according to project specifications.
- Drive commercial trucks for transporting materials, equipment, or debris around the site or between locations while adhering to all safety regulations for commercial truck driving.
- Follow construction safety procedures diligently, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other federal construction safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members on site to execute tasks efficiently while maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
Skills
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, water trucks, dump trucks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting minor issues promptly.
- Ability to perform construction utility work including utility locating with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- Skilled in construction grading, excavation and site preparation techniques.
- Valid commercial driving license with experience in commercial truck driving.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Experience working on construction sites with a focus on utility installation or maintenance projects.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment such as graders, loaders, excavators (including Caterpillar models), dozers, horizontal drills, and water trucks effectively.
