About us
Giorgi Mushroom Company (GMC) is the largest, single-location mushroom farm in the world.
We are looking for a “Carpenter/Maintenance assistant” to join our team. This position is an hourly position working around 52 hours weekly. Each work week includes half a weekend day. Work hours normally starts at 6:30 a.m. Finish time 4:00 p.m.

Essential Functions/Key Deliverables
- Build and assemble wooden and metal structures necessary for mushroom cultivation, including racks, shelves, and supports.
- Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
- Cutting, shaping and smoothing lumber and other material according to measurements.
- Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed
- Complete general maintenance work
- Move heavy furniture, appliances, and equipment
- Maintain and operate construction tools in a safe and proper manner
- Ability to operate specialized safety equipment efficiently and effectively
- Follow workplace health and safety rules
- Load and unload tools and equipment from work vehicles
- Safe and efficient use of the backhoe to carry out excavation tasks according to specifications
- Perform basic tasks including painting and filling crevices, clean facilities and managing maintenance repairs.
- Standard weightlifting requirements - 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
Requirements:
- Valid PA driver’s license
- Proven experience as a frame carpenter or in a similar role, preferably in an agricultural or cultivation environment.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry, construction, and structure assembly techniques.
- Ability to use carpentry hand and power tools with precision.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of safety practices and tool and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Good physical condition and ability to perform tasks requiring physical effort, including lifting and moving heavy materials.
- Availability to work in a farm environment, which may include varying temperature and humidity conditions.
- Experience in backhoe operation is a plus.
