Primary Responsibility:  In a positive team environment helps maintain part of the beauty of Gilpin County by providing full-service maintenance, lawn, and landscape services to the Parks & Recreation Department at the Community Center, Fairgrounds and Pete Gones Park.  With attentiveness to quality, provides routine maintenance, repair, or other tasks to support the Parks & Recreation Department.  Operates motorized field, grounds and/or maintenance equipment.

The duties listed below are representative of, but do not necessarily include, all the duties and responsibilities that an individual in this position may be called upon to perform.

• Performs the full range of turf maintenance duties; irrigation, mows, weeds, trims, aerates, renovates, and fertilizes turf.
• Performs a variety of duties in the maintenance and repair of the irrigation system; changes and adjusts heads; maintain controllers; assists in irrigation system installation and maintenance projects.
• Operates the full range of grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment including, mowers, edger, blowers, sod-cutters, tractors, chainsaw, loaders, hand and power tools; maintains tools and equipment and performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Inspects and maintains playground, sports equipment, picnic tables, bleachers, and other related parks equipment and facilities. Installs and repairs fences and other related parks equipment and facilities; sands and paints park equipment and facilities.
• Cleans and maintains park restrooms, storage sheds, fairground arenas, stock pens, trail, fitness machines, weight equipment, track, and gym floor.
• Determines appropriate methods, sequences, and layout of sport fields and/or any other assigned Parks & Recreation projects.
• Assists in the set-up and removal of equipment needed for special events, including the Fair, classes, rentals and sports leagues.
• Assists with freight deliveries.
• Assist with fleet maintenance tracking and requesting.
• Keeps inventory and tracks equipment, materials and maintenance performed. Notifies Recreation Coordinator if materials or equipment need to be ordered.
• Notifies Recreation Coordinator when any repairs or replacements of equipment is required, or if a vendor is needed to perform a task.
• Performs general trail and sidewalk maintenance and cleanup. Including snow/ice and tree removal.
• Drags and lines athletic fields, sets bases, goals, and volleyball nets, and provides general field maintenance.
• Deals courteously and tactfully with visitor's volunteer coaches and responds to inquiries and complaints; provides information regarding rules and regulations of the parks, trails, and other facilities.
• Works to identify and treat noxious weeds using herbicides or mechanical methods. Must use personal protective equipment.
• Assists the operations of the Gilpin County Fair, including trash removal, cleaning restrooms, dragging arenas, etc.
• Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator or Parks & Recreation Director.
• Drags arenas consistently.
• Disposes of trash and cleans trash receptacles at park, trail, and fairgrounds.
• Helps with rentals setup and cleanup, such as bouncy houses, staging tables and chairs, trash, sweeping and mopping, etc.
• Crosstrain others when requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
