We seek an experienced, compassionate Upper School Counselor committed to supporting students' academic, college, career, and social-emotional development. The ideal candidate brings strong counseling skills, a collaborative spirit, and enthusiasm for working with secondary-level students.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic, college, and career, and social-emotional growth.
- Deliver services through diverse methods, including one-on-one meetings, classroom lessons, presentations, and family education programs.
- Build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues through empathy, authenticity, and positive regard.
- Identify student strengths while helping them navigate and manage challenges effectively.
- Collaborate with students, families, faculty, and community partners to promote student success and well-being.
- Connect students and families with appropriate resources, referrals, and community support.
- Use data to plan, assess, and continuously improve counseling programs and practices.
- Monitor student progress and recommend adjustments to counseling approaches and school policies as needed.
- Serve as an advocate for the whole child, championing academic achievement, college and career readiness, and social-emotional development.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing management of a comprehensive school counseling program.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field
- Valid school counseling licensure or certification
- Experience counseling students at the secondary level
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and student-centered practice
