Gilman Precision is seeking a Small Parts Assembler to perform repetitive and non-repetitive assembly operations on precision metal components and sub-assemblies. This position focuses on small, lightweight parts (typically under 10 lbs) and requires the use of hand tools and basic measuring instruments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to follow written and verbal work instructions in a manufacturing environment.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble small metal parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hex keys, and torque tools
- Work from shop orders, work instructions, and basic blueprints or assembly drawings
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure assemblies meet quality standards
- Use basic measuring tools including calipers, scales, and gauges
- Identify and report defective parts, missing components, or assembly issues
- Maintain accurate production and quality records as required
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Assist team members and support continuous improvement efforts as needed
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production environment preferred
- Ability to use hand tools and basic measuring instruments
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and simple blueprints
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Basic math skills including decimals and fractions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 6–8 hours per day
- Ability to lift and carry parts weighing up to 10 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand motions
- Ability to see and inspect small components and assemblies
