Job Summary
Work schedule: 12pm to 5pm, M-F
This is a part-time position; might lead to full-time
As a Victim Advocate, you will provide crucial support and assistance to individuals who have been affected by crime or trauma. Your role will involve offering emotional support, guidance, and resources to help victims navigate the criminal justice system and rebuild their lives.
Duties
- Conduct intake interviews to assess victims' needs and develop individualized support plans
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims in person or over the phone
- Accompany victims to court proceedings and other necessary meetings
- Assist victims in understanding their rights within the legal system
- Connecting survivors to resources
- Facilitate safety planning
- Transport survivors to shelters, hospitals or to access other services
- Collaborate with law enforcement, social services, and other agencies on behalf of victims
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with victims and services provided
- Assist with on-call and crisis line coverage
- Facilitate support/advocacy groups
- Administrative duties are a part of this position as well
Qualifications:
- Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field, or experience equivalent.
- Minimum a high school diploma
- Proficient in crisis intervention techniques
- Strong conflict management skills
- Understanding of behavioral health issues affecting victims
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with empathy and professionalism
- Computer skills
- Communication and Writing Skills
- Must pass the background check
- Be able to pass the drug test
- Must have a valid driver’s license
