Position: School Nurse Associate
Contract Days: 176 days & 4 paid holidays
Hours: 7:45-3:15 daily - This position will be split between the elementary and intermediate schools.
Pay- $15.00-per hour or $18.00 per hour with CNA certification
Job Description:
The School Nurse Associate should strive to provide supplementary health care to students by assisting the school nurse. The school nurse and building principal supervise the school nurse associate.
Nurse associates should have a high school diploma. Certification in CPR/First-Aid is preferred; training will occur if the applicant is not CPR/First-Aid certified. CNA or other certification and experience are preferred.
Skills:
- Nurse associate must have the patience to handle student needs and various behaviors.
- Attention to detail is a must, as diligent record-keeping is pertinent.
- Nurse associates must also be compassionate and understanding in dealing with children's health issues.
- Great physical hygiene as you may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by students.
- Nurse associates must follow instructions well and communicate well with students, teachers, and parents.
Responsibilities:
- The nurse associate may take the temperatures, apply band-aids, determine a need for ice, and call a parent to inform them of their sick child.
- If necessary, school nurse associates may need to lift sick children.
- School nurse associates are responsible for maintaining the health records of all students in the school.
- Assist the nurse with yearly health screenings.
- Give daily and emergency medications
