The Solid Waste and Recycling Trainee reports to the Solid Waste & Recycling Uncontained Supervisor. the primary job duties of this position include.
- Operate a rear-loading refuse vehicle collecting refuse on a designated route.
- Report improper equipment performance or other maintenance or related problems to the fleet maintenance mechanic and supervisor as per DOT compliance.
- Perform routine service on vehicles, such as washing, cleaning, greasing, fueling, checking, and adding oil, hydraulic fluid, and water as needed. Inspect instruments, mirrors, brakes, steering, and signals. Maintain tire pressure and drain air tanks.
- Inform the supervisor of conditions in the field or poorly maintained collection sites.
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and servicing of refuse containers, including painting, delivery, and inspection of containers.

- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Requires working in extreme temperatures that are part of the Arizona climate.
- Applicants will be provided proper CDL instruction (school) and on-the-job training, and are encouraged to obtain their Class A license within the first six months of employment. Not to exceed 12 months or the maximum number of attempts allowed by the Department of Transportation.
