Tribal Driving Permit Required: Yes\
variety of skilled tasks in the installation,\
maintenance, and repair of the Communitys water distribution and sewer
collection systems. Work is generally\
performed as a member of a crew, although individuals may be assigned
tasks to be performed independently.\
Essential Functions
Install, maintain, inspect and repair water distribution systems and/or
sewer collection systems, including\
water mains, sewer mains, service connections, meters, meter boxes,
valves and fire hydrants (work involves\
digging and backfilling trenches, installing and repairing pipelines,
including cutting, tapping, threading and\
making joint connections on copper, plastic and other pipe materials).
Respond to emergencies such as system breaks or blockages; perform
septic tank pump outs.
Flush and clean valves, including extensions and new or replaced lines;
raise, lower or relocate water mains,\
water meters, valves and fire hydrants.
Raise, lower or relocate sewer lines and manholes to accommodate other
utilities or street installation and\
repair.
Complete and submit to office Work Orders on all jobs completed;
maintain record of Time and Materials\
for all jobs performed and submit to office upon completion.
Operate backhoe, trencher tractors, septic tank pumper truck and dump
truck with or without equipment\
trailer.
Inspect water distribution and sewer collection systems.
Will be cross-trained to repair and/or replace fire hydrants, valves,
manholes, meters, and perform preventive\
maintenance and keep logs of these maintenance functions.
Connect and disconnect customer service due to payment or non-payment.
Locate and read water meters on an assigned route and records readings
on a hand held reading device; ensure\
meters are functioning properly, repaired, and replaced as needed; clean
out flooded and buried meters.
Investigate high consumption complaints or inquires; perform re-reads
due to high use or suspicion of meter\
malfunctions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.\
Required Knowledge, Skill And Ability
Working knowledge of plumbing installation and repair.
Working knowledge in the use of various hand tools and mechanical
equipment, such as pumps, sewer\
rodder/snakes, weed eaters, etc.
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and standard practices for the
installation, operation, inspection,\
maintenance, and repair of water distribution or wastewater collection
systems and related equipment.
Knowledge of Federal (OSHA) regulations and Community policies regarding
safe work practices.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to read and interpret meters and testing equipment.
Ability to locate system breaks or maintenance areas using a map or
diagram and make rapid decisions to\
alleviate a potentially hazardous situation.
Ability to operate power equipment, hand tools and a motor vehicle.
Ability to prepare written reports and maintain system performance
records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
other employees, Community Officials\
and the general public.
Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to
maintain a drug-free workplace.\
Required Education And Experience
High School diploma or GED and three (3) years experience in water
and/or wastewater utilities construction,\
maintenance, repair work and/or quipment operation; Or
Two (2) years as a Utility Service Technician I which includes one (1)
year of experience as a heavy equipment\
operator and possess a Commercial Drivers License with endorsements.\
Additional Requirement
Required to obtain a Commercial Drivers License with endorsements within
90 days of date of hire.
Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers
license with a current proof of driving\
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal
driving permit. Proof of driving record\
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old
from the date of submission\
of the application.\
Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position\
