What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Tech Certified-HHK-Sacaton position at Gila River Health Care?
Position Summary: Under the supervision, prepares and packages a variety of specialized pharmaceuticals as specified in prescription.
Critical Tasks:
- Receives and reviews written prescriptions or refill requests; determines kind, strength and dosage; verifies accuracy referring discrepancies to Pharmacist as appropriate.
- Enters new and/or refill prescription information into computer to provide for accuracy of patient profile and medications
- Calculates and converts to proper weights and measure solutions, medications and drugs; visually checks for accuracy
- Prepares unit dose medication carts according to patient profile cardex
- Prepares, compounds, packages and labels pharmaceuticals
- Receives and fills ward and clinic drug supply orders; computes requested drug/supply amounts.
- Performs physical inventory of all pharmacy items to provide for continuous adequate stock levels in accordance with established policies and security requirements
- Repackages items into smaller units as determined by usage; prepares labels to include generic name, manufacturer, lot/control number and shipment number
- Maintains department logs of medications
- Stocks Pyxsis with all non-controlled medications.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a course of study leading to a high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Pharmacy Technician certification course; 6 months previous pharmacy experience preferred
