What are the responsibilities and job description for the JVN Technician-PCD-RTH-Chandler position at Gila River Health Care?
Position Summary: Responsible for taking, reviewing, and forwarding gradable retinal photographs of diabetic patients. Identifies diabetic patient eligibility, collects and updates patient data, and calibrates equipment to prepare for exam. Maintains exam room and equipment clean and safe in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Critical Tasks:
- Takes retina photographs of diabetic patients, reviews digital photographs for quality, and forwards them for interpretation.
- Receives patients and prepares for exam by reviewing chief complaints, medical history and test results, and recording patient data into electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Coordinates with primary care physicians and nurses to identify patients eligible for diabetic retina photography.
- Performs necessary pre-testing, preliminary examination tests, and special testing.
- Identifies and reports unusual findings, symptoms, behaviors, and treatment reactions to appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Instructs patients in checkout procedures and implements medical orders.
- Assists in managing cleanliness, sanitization, preparation, and closing of exam room, and equipment.
- Performs administrative support activities including answering phones, responding to patient questions, scheduling appointments, and conducting follow-ups.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid certification from Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) Joslin Vision Network (JVN) imaging program within 1 year in position.
- Current and continuing BLS training and certifications.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
