Counselor Aide-BHS-HHK-Sacaton

Position Summary: Assist and support clients as they navigate the milieu and activities of the program/site location. Perform client support activities and services that enhance and support the client individualized service/treatment plan. Provide support to counselors in individual and group counseling settings to provide clients with optimal behavioral health solutions. Document client interactions, observations and actively participate in clinical team meetings. Provide educational and support resources to clients and stakeholders.

Critical Tasks:

• Ensure a safe/secure and confidential treatment environment for clients, potential clients, guests, and staff.
• A ssist and support clients in participating in program activities/services, which include but are not limited to: individual and group counseling, skill training, assistance in self-administration of medications, transportation, etc. Program activities vary based on site/program assignment.
• Facilitate the completions of administrative client care support activities, which include but are not limited to: appointment scheduling/related phone calls/communication, communication with program leadership, etc.
• Participates in clinical team meetings to assess client progress and assists clients in receiving services that support achieving recovering goals.
• Documents and records client interactions and observations to more accurately assess client conditions and recovery efforts.
• Collaborates with clients, their family members, and other stakeholders to assess barriers to success and options to address such barriers.
• Responds to emergency situations and contacts the appropriate resources to ensure proper intervention and client safety.
• Assist clients with the completion of the client complaint process to provide an appropriate and timely resolution.
• Facilitate group and educational programming/support to the clients to support a better understanding of behavioral health/substance use challenges.
Performs other job-related activities as requested.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree in Chemical Dependency, Mental Health, or a closely related field of study preferred.
• 6 months of experience in behavioral health / substance use experience, preferably with Native American populations preferred.
• Current and continuing BLS training and certifications.
• State of Arizona driver’s license with no significant violations during the last 5 years.
• Current state of Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance card required.
• Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community or other Native American cultures and community health services.
