GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the general direction and supervision of the Foundation Board of Directors, the Foundation Director of Development will plan and coordinate estate planning, bequests, gift annuities, real estate gifts, wills and securities and retirement assets for the benefit of Gibson Area Hospital (GAH) Foundation. In addition, they will oversee the planning, organizing and implementation of Foundation fund raising efforts.
GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL FOUNDATION MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Gibson Area Hospital Foundation is to insure that Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services has the charitable and community resources to create excellence in health care programs and services in support of a healthy community.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, organizes, and directs Foundation capital campaigns supporting Hospital capital projects.
- Plan and coordinate major gifts and estate planning programs, complete gifts involving annuity trusts, bequests and insurance contracts to benefit the GAH Foundation.
- Organizes and attends fund raising events for the hospital, assisting sponsors with campaign and functions.
- Drafts letters of appeal when and where appropriate.
- Contacts individuals and coordinates mailings and solicitations related to the Gift of Love, Century Club programs and other fund raising events.
- Maintains correspondence duties when gifts/contributions are received.
- Establishes, maintains and follows all policies adopted by the Foundation Board of Directors.
- Assist in the review and evaluation of proposed policies and procedures; make recommendations for improvement in the estate planning program.
- Initiate contact; personally meet with, develop and maintain personal contact with prospects for deferred gifts and provide information concerning gift utilization; coordinate with the prospects, the attorney and/or financial advisor to determine the most appropriate method of deferred giving.
- Develop marketing strategies for planned gifts for implementation. Prepare and distribute brochures and printed material outlining methods of deferred giving. Coordinate this with the Marketing Coordinator in support with the Hospital CEO.
- Maintains close contact and a working liaison with members of the Foundation Board of Directors.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Hospital Administration.
- Will be available, at the direction of the Foundation, for job assignments through the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairperson of the Foundation Board.
- Meets with Foundation Chairperson and CEO as necessary to report and discuss activities of the Foundation.
- Will provide quarterly reports to Foundation Board with metrics established by Foundation Board
- Participates in hospital and Foundation meetings as required.
- Identifies and maintains a portfolio of prospects, potential donors, and past donors, and maintains written record of substantive donor contacts.
- Represents the Foundation in a positive and professional manner.
- Wears clothing and GAHHS badge consistent with dress code, and attends to personal hygiene to maintain a clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Is responsible for special events such as the golf outing and Red Carpet Event.

- Work requires the ability to lift and carry boxes.

- Floor to waist - 20 pounds
- 14” to waist - 30 pounds
- Waist to shoulder - 10 pounds
- Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds
- Carry 20 pounds for 30 feet
- Push 10 pounds/force for 15 feet
- Pull 10 pounds/force for 15 feet
- Work requires ability to be at attention for up to fifteen minutes at a time whether it be in a standing or sitting position.
- Subject to driving and sitting throughout the day.
- Work requires communication abilities necessary to gather and exchange information with all departments, including the ability to use a telephone.
- Work requires ability to use a computer.
- Work requires visual acuity necessary to observe and obtain information and use documentation.
- Auditory acuity to hear donors/others for purposes of communication
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Hospital CEO.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Work requires strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Preferred experience in the legal field, public relations, fund raising, sales and promotions, marketing or a related field, and the skills necessary to develop and coordinate estate planning programs to promote deferred giving to the Gibson Area Hospital Foundation.
INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL
Category 3 -No Risk- Your job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. You do not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as part of your job.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This is a full time position that will require varying hours and a flexible schedule.
- Works in a normal office where there are relatively few discomforts due to dust or dirt. There is some exposure to print noises.
- May work in an office with a co-worker; the potential for personal harm or injury is limited when proper safety precautions are taken.
Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
