Dental Assistant FT

HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:  Regular full time, 40 hours weekly, M-F 8-4:30

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide quality care and services to patients by assisting the dentist and other staff in a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure all patient records and related documents are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements.
2.  Demonstrate knowledge of dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures.
3. Cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray and materials setup and taking of x-rays.
4. Experience with the use of dental care devices and equipment.       
5. Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments as patient checks-out.
6. Advise patients in oral hygiene and dental care, and follow through with post-visit duties.
7. Keep abreast of OSHA and follow guidelines.
8. Be aware of Provider/Scheduling synergy, understanding doctor’s treatment planning philosophy to better educate and create sense of urgency for the patients.
9. Disinfect treatment rooms and equipment after each patient, document each autoclave cycle on tracking sheet.
10. Confirm treatment rooms are stocked, ready, and clean at the beginning of each appointment.
11. Maintain inventory and inform appropriate employee of any supply needs, and turn pumps on and off daily.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for      files and supplies.  Occasionally lifts files or paper.
2. Complete tasks with arm in extended position for an extended period of time.
3. Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:

• Floor to waist – 30 pounds
• 14” to waist – 40 pounds
• Waist to shoulder – 20 pounds
• Shoulder to overhead – 10 pounds
• Carry 30 pounds for 30 feet
• Push 40 pounds/force for 15 feet
• Pull 40 pounds/force for 15 feet

1. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier,   dictation recorder, and such other office      equipment as necessary.
2. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
3.  It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Office Manager

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1.         High School graduation or GED.

1. Work is performed in an office environment.

Salary : $20 - $25
