General Summary
Under supervision of the Director of Radiology and the Assistant Director of Radiology, the Imaging Technologist IV is a high-level, experienced x-ray or sonography position performing a wide variety of imaging exams on patients. Radiology provides services on a 24/7/365 basis and this position can be scheduled to work for any shift, any day (including weekends and holidays), and may include call rotations as needed. Position may be scheduled at any imaging facility within the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services organization. Position consists of one of the following technologists:

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
Under supervision of the Director of Radiology and the Assistant Director of Radiology, the Imaging Technologist IV is a high-level, experienced x-ray or sonography position performing a wide variety of imaging exams on patients. Radiology provides services on a 24/7/365 basis and this position can be scheduled to work for any shift, any day (including weekends and holidays), and may include call rotations as needed. Position may be scheduled at any imaging facility within the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services organization. Position consists of one of the following technologists:
- An ARDMS registered sonographer with 2 or more ARDMS specialty certifications who is also an ARRT registered radiographer, with 2 or more advanced ARRT registries.
- Any technologist registered by the ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or CCI and/or holds a Bachelors Degree or higher. Must also be classified as an Imaging Technologist II or III and possess with more than 3 years of experience as a registered technologist.
- A nuclear medicine technologist registered by the ARRT or certified by the CNMT. Active license required with IEMA; Division of Nuclear Safety.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Shows and proves competencies on equipment that the employee utilizes, including: x-ray equipment, MR unit, mammography unit, nuclear medicine unit, and/or ultrasound/sonography units. Also demonstrates competency on peripheral equipment within the department.
- Shows and proves competencies for exams performed.
- Performs requested exams in reasonable time frame and with high quality.
- Understands and utilizes ALARA, as well as a high degree of knowledge in MR and magnetic safety.
- Understands and utilizes age specific communication and abilities.
- Treats equipment with care.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.
- Actively seeks to help others whenever possible and is willing to take on extra duties.
- Willingness to cross-train and do “non-tech” jobs.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity during exams. Understand HIPAA and the relationship of trust with the patient.
- Mindful of radiation safety to patient, self, and others.
- Strictly follows hospital infection control policies.
- Willing to work odd hours during emergencies and vacations, and take call as needed.
- Maintains paperwork in a current and correct manner. Assures all exam paperwork is scanned and saved in PACS.
- Assist in the maintenance of Quality Assurance on all department equipment.
- Maintains licensure current and up-to-date.
- Maintains exam paperwork and is proficient in the use of PACS.
- Transports patients when necessary to and from the department in an appropriate manner.
- Collaborates and coordinates care and imaging consistent with departmental protocol and the instruction of the radiologist.
- Maintains and assists with departmental documentation and day-to-day reconciliation processes.
- Acts as a leader and mentor for less experienced staff.
- Supervises area or department of expertise in a manner that promotes the department and organization to meet the needs of the patients.
- Is a departmental resource who shares knowledge and experience to assist other staff as well as the organization and the department.
- Participates in departmental meetings, leadership and organization.
- Maintains, reviews and adjusts protocols and procedures within area of expertise with the guidance of the Director of Radiology and the radiologist.
- Assists with regulatory requirements and procedures for areas of expertise.
