HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Regular full time; Monday - Friday…40 hours/week; Day Shift 9:30am – 6:00pm.
(Technician Holiday Rotation. Weekends, as needed basis only.)
General Summary
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory and maintenance of records. Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Procures and distributes drug orders per physician request, pharmacist request or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols, and within specified timeframe.
- Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies, procedures and protocols and within specific timeframe.
- Contributes to the effective operation of the department.
- Daily Automation duties as assigned.
- Manages Pyxis MedStation.
- Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department.
- Participates in improvement activities that affect the pharmacy inventory and cost.
- Maintains competency required for current job title/position.
- Prepares intravenous sterile preparations and chemotherapy once appropriately trained.
- Performs patient interviews face-to-face or by phone to obtain an accurate medication history to aid in the Admission Medication Reconciliation Process.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified times.
- Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
- Ability to set priorities and solve problems.
- Fosters a team environment by providing orientation and training to new team members.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
- Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, psychiatric, obstetric, oncology, chemically dependent, rehabilitation and skilled-nursing patients.
Salary : $17 - $25
