We are seeking an experienced Industrial Sandblaster to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with abrasive blasting equipment and surface preparation techniques to ensure proper coating adhesion. This position requires attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet project specifications and production deadlines.

- Report to and take direction from the Supervisor or Foreman
- Follow established surface preparation procedures and accurately complete required documentation
- Obtain and organize blasting materials and supplies per project requirements
- Perform abrasive blasting (sandblasting) to clean and prepare steel surfaces according to project specifications
- Select appropriate blasting media and adjust pressure settings based on material and coating requirements
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper cleanliness and surface profile
- Perform masking and protection of areas not to be blasted in accordance with shop drawings
- Maintain blasting equipment and ensure proper functionality and operation
- Identify and report surface defects, non-conformities, or process issues to the Foreman promptly
- Handle and stage materials safely throughout the blasting process
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and properly store equipment after use
- Adhere to all project requirements, safety protocols, and company quality standards
- Optimize material usage to minimize waste and ensure efficient blasting operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong knowledge of abrasive blasting techniques and surface preparation standards
- Ability to select proper blasting media and equipment for various applications
- Skilled in identifying surface defects and ensuring proper blast profile
- Familiarity with masking and protection methods for blasting operations
- Ability to follow directions, maintain productivity, and uphold quality and safety standards
- Competence in completing required paperwork accurately and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and workmanship
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1–2 years of abrasive blasting experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Experience operating blasting equipment
- Experience with structural steel surface preparation
- Familiarity with surface profile standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE)
- Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and industrial safety standards
