Assistant Store Manager - Retail Convenience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND SKILLS
Leadership and Management

- Recruit, hire, train, and develop positive, enthusiastic employees who provide excellent customer service and follow proper food-safety procedures.
- Manage daily store and food-service operations, including food preparation, cleanliness, stocking, inventory, and compliance with Company standards.
- Assign tasks and follow up with employees to ensure the store, kitchen, and food-preparation areas are clean, organized, adequately stocked, and properly maintained.
- Ensure employees follow food-safety, sanitation, temperature-control, and product-quality standards.
- Maintain a professional and supportive working relationship with employees and supervisors.
- Schedule employees within Company guidelines to maintain proper store coverage, customer service, and food-service operations.
- Use fair and non-discriminatory management practices when hiring, training, counseling, motivating, and separating employees.
- Monitor food inventory, product freshness, waste, expiration dates, and proper food storage.
- Ensure food-service equipment is used, cleaned, and maintained properly.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours.
- Ability to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds from the ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes during the workday, including stocking and maintaining inventory.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from the ground to waist level, including replenishing fountain syrups and food-service supplies.
- Ability to push and pull with up to 20 pounds of force, including using a hand truck.
- Ability to bend at the waist and twist throughout the workday.
- Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely climb a ladder to store or retrieve materials and place or remove signs.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Local candidates only.
- Previous food-service, restaurant, deli, kitchen, convenience-store food, or food-preparation experience strongly preferred.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a food-service or retail environment preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food preparation, temperature control, and proper food storage practices preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities and work under the conditions described above.
- Ability to supervise and train employees on food-service equipment, store equipment, tools, safety procedures, and assigned tasks.
- Ability to supervise, manage, and hold direct reports accountable for store operations, food-service standards, and vendor activities.
- Ability to efficiently use store computer systems, including reviewing reports, managing inventory, controlling cash, and completing counseling documentation.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to attend meetings and other Company-related activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Food-handler or food-safety certification preferred. Candidates must be willing to obtain any required certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned or delegated by management.
