The Staff Accountant – Payroll and Benefits will have the opportunity to engage in a versatile role across the company. This position will serve as liaison between HR and Accounting. This position will play a key role in providing timely and accurate financial information and reports, consistent with a comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), general accounting best practices, and the Company’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

- Prepare journal entries for all payrolls processed for wages, bonuses, taxes and benefits.
- Book allocations for healthcare and benefits monthly.
- Reconcile benefit and payroll liability accounts monthly, identifying and reporting on variances.
- Identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis of causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Accounting for and reconciliation of the various benefit plans: Life Insurance, Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, FSA, 401K, etc.
- Develop and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and Finance to implement new processes and improve on existing processes.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Assist with internal control documentation, monitoring, and review.
- Review P&L transactions and explain fluctuations.
- Assist with year end audit requests and schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Excellent Microsoft computer skills (pivot tables, v-lookup, etc.).
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Experience with NetSuite and or Paycom is a plus but not required.
- Collaborative style with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely on technical and operational issues, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfortable interacting and collaborating with stakeholders throughout the business
- High attention to detail.
