GHL Doors & Locks Inc. is hiring experienced Automatic Door Technicians to support commercial customers throughout Washington, DC and surrounding areas.
This position involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial automatic door systems. We are looking for dependable technicians who take pride in their workmanship, communicate professionally, and can work independently on service calls or alongside a team on larger installations.
Current AAADM certification and hands-on automatic door installation experience are required. Service experience alone does not meet the requirements for this position.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair automatic sliding doors, swinging doors, folding doors, and low-energy ADA operators.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues involving operators, motors, control boards, sensors, activation devices, wiring, and related door hardware.
- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, programming, adjustments, and operational testing.
- Complete new installations and equipment replacements, including removal of existing equipment, installation, setup, and final testing.
- Document work performed, site conditions, parts needed, and recommended repairs through detailed service notes and photos.
- Communicate with customers, dispatch, and project management while maintaining a safe, organized work area.
Required Qualifications
- Current AAADM certification.
- Proven commercial automatic door installation and service experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to read wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions.
- Ability to complete service calls independently and collaborate with other technicians on installation projects.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer locations within the assigned service area.
- Strong attention to detail, professional communication, and reliable attendance.
Preferred Experience
Experience with multiple automatic door manufacturers, including Record, STANLEY, Horton, Besam/ASSA ABLOY, or similar systems, is preferred. Experience with commercial manual doors, panic hardware, electric strikes, and access-control integration is a plus.
Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
